The tales of Tale 6: Detectives Arrived! (Part 2)
--- Recap ---
Looze and other detectives were invited to a dinner. But after dinner, a murder case had happened. Will Looze and the other detectives be able to find out the culprit? Find out now!
--- Story ---
“It seems like he was murdered not too long ago.” Looze commented.
“Yea, our suspects will definitely be the two of them.” Steven added on.
“Windows on the opposite side of the door are locked. The master keys are found next to the bedside too. It may be a sealed-room murder.” Gregson suggested.
“Not quite a seal-room murder yet. I’ve checked that all of the rooms on this floor have doors that have door knobs with a button on the inside of the room. By pushing the button, you can lock the door when you close the door.” Raul examined.
“So it would seem that after the murderer stabbed Zen, he pushed the button on the door knob. After that, left the room and closed the door.” Looze deduced.
“Not to mention, the only people who can do that are Hong and Qin.” Steven suspected.
“Alright, let’s leave this room and wait in the living room until the police arrived.” Amy advised everyone.
Soon afterwards, the police finally arrived to the crime scene.
“Hi, my name is James Blue. I am the inspector of the Towns City Metropolitan Police. Beside me is Violet Dexter. She is an officer of the Towns City Metropolitan Police.” Inspector James introduced.
“So may we know what had happened?” Officer Violet questioned.
And so, everyone explained the situation to Inspector James. The detectives gave specific details of the crime scene to Officer Violet who was taking down notes.
“I see. So all of you are detectives? Even Looze and Steven are here.” Inspector James wondered.
“Alright, get the forensic team to examine the scene, while I question everyone in the living room. Join me as soon as possible.” Inspector James ordered.
“Yes sir. I shall do that immediately.” Officer Violet nodded her head.
“Now, will you tell me what everyone was doing at that time?” Inspector James asked.
“Most of us were in the living room chatting. Only Zen and Qin went to their room upstairs to rest as they were tired.” Tuan answered.
“But soon after, we decided to play card games. So I went to my room to take the deck of cards.” Hong added on.
“After Hong went upstairs, Amy and I decided to call Zen and Qin to join us. We knocked on Zen’s door first, but no one was answering.” Ada further elaborated.
“And that’s when u broke down the door right?” Inspector James directed.
“Inspector, the forensic team has finished their job. It seems that they found skin fragments on the right index finger nail of the victim. Further more, they found out that blood was present on the door knob inside and outside of the room. Both the skin fragments and blood are now being sent back to the lab for DNA test. Fingerprints were also not found on the handle of the knife.” Officer Violet reported.
“Thanks for the hard work Violet. Now, all of you please give a sample of your DNAs to the forensic team. While waiting for the results, the 4 of you wait in your rooms and the detectives, please wait here in the living room.” Inspector James commanded.
“So the culprit wore gloves when dealing with Zen, but, blood on the door knob inside and outside of the room? What is this?” Looze thought hardly.
“Ahhhhhh! I forgot about my appointment with my client!” Amy shouted.
“Oh? What time is it?” Souno inquire.
“9pm. Look at the time now, I don’t think I will make it. The police won’t be releasing us any time soon. I guess I have to cancel my appointment.” Amy frowned.
“Who was that screaming so loud? I could even hear it in the toilet.” Gregson laughed.
“Be quiet. Amy is talking to her client now.” Souno announced.
“Mr Gregson, may I know where the toilet is?” Looze asked politely.
“It’s all the way to the end on the second floor.” Gregson directed Looze.
“Thanks!” Looze smiled.
“For the time being, our primary suspects are Qin and Hong. Qin could have killed Zen when the both of them were upstairs resting. For Hong, he could have killed Zen when he was on his way up to get the cards. But for one thing I am unclear. Why are blood found on the door knobs? The blood is most likely Zen’s and is left by the culprit. If the culprit had worn gloves, blood probably got on the glove that held the knife when he stabbed Zen. But the other hand shouldn’t have blood on it. So he could have used the other hand to close the door. Unless…” Looze pondered while on his way to the toilet.
It has been 30 minutes and the detectives in the living room were restless. Raul, Gregson and Souno decided to head outside to take a puff. Just then, a phone call to Officer Violet arrived.
“Inspector, it’s the forensic team. The blood found on the door knob is tested and proved to belong to Zen. The skin fragment, on the other hand, belongs to Hong!” Officer Violet announced the results.
“It seems like our culprit is Hong. Let’s move out and arrest him.” Inspector James instructed.
Everyone got to the doorsteps of Hong. But something was amiss.
“Look, the door is close properly.” Steven pointed out.
Inspector James pushed open the door. However, the culprit doesn’t seem to be as the police deduced. Hong was in his room, hung to a rope. On the table beside the bed was a piece of paper, with words written on it.
I am terribly sorry but I have to confess.
I am the one that killed Zen.
Zen was forcing me to pay back all the money I borrowed from him.
If not, he would expose me for embezzling with the company’s money.
After I killed him, I was guilt stricken.
I decided to atone for my sins.
“So Hong committed suicide.” Officer Violet declared.
“Don’t be fooled by that suicide letter and this rope Officer Violet.” Looze conveyed.
“He did not commit suicide.” Steven claimed.
“He was murdered.” Raul voiced out.
... to be continued.
